Day1 - Ground Zero

My Facebook is full of New Years Eve photos of people celebrating, drinking, partying etc.
Somehow I never envisioned myself doing that. Ever. I like staying in, wearing my comfortable PJ's, eating food, drinking a good wine, watching TV and just chit chatting in general. That's my jam, really.

I am really not going to retrospect on 2016 because I am here to talk about what lies ahead.
No resolutions this time around. I have my own bucket list for 2017 and lets see how that progresses:

1. Write everyday. I really want to write everyday and last year I fell in a deep dark pit where I couldn't even construct sentences. Thoughts to posts became a monstrous challenge. This year, I really want to write more. Short posts to keep the momentum going. Writing 365 posts would be a dream and an achievement. I want to keep it real and my target is around 100. Too optimistic?

2. Run more. I ran somewhere between 600-700 miles this year which is far less than my usual. I didn't run any races. There were valid reasons. I was advised to stay off running for a while. It was hard but I did and this year I want to run more. I also want to participate in a lot of events. I have a number in mind

3. Be more creative - Learn new things. Draw. Create. Recycle. This year I have to showcase my art somewhere. I have to participate in a craft fair. Yes, thats the plan

4. Cook More. I had stopped cooking somewhere in the middle of last year and I really want to get back to it. I want to cook more. Eat fresh and healthy

5. Shop Less. Yes - I have been on a shopping spree lately. I need to cut back on it. It is not just about saving money but I need to stop accumulating junk. I have decided that I will detox my wardrobe every few months. I need to start getting rid of things which have outlived their usefulness

6. Cut back on sugar. I tried this last year and felt great for a few days and then all of a sudden started craving for sugar again. I don't think I can give up on sugar but can definitely cut back a little

7. Skydiving - Yes, that's the plan

8. New Orleans - I am not even going to list out travel in my bucket list.  I keep traveling from time to time. I love that I can afford to travel with my job. Ever since I was a kid, I have always been fascinated by this place, its history and what it has to offer. I was pretty tied up with work last year and couldn't plan this but no excuses

9. Attend more broadway shows and concerts. I did two last year and was blown away. I want to continue with this tradition

10.  Snowshoeing - Because I am a total failure at skiing

Howzzat for day-1? Not bad, eh?

  1. Looking forward to read your posts. Good resolutions. Happy new year. Everyday is challenging, best of luck for that challenge. Taking your paintings to art fair sounds exciting.
