Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost

I am back from an experience. An experience of a lifetime.
It is something that will stay on with me forever. The best thing about my experience is that it had all possible shades. It was good, bad, sad, happy, enjoyable, boring, tough, beautiful, tiring...!!! Oh, are you confused? Ok, then buckle up.. I will start from the start.

Just when the weather of Delhi started sobering up a bit I started having a solid craving for a good vacation. Oh, don't be judgmental.. Just because I am out of work does not mean that I am not entitled to a break. Cut me some slack, will ya?
So the chosen destination was Chail in Himachal Pradesh. Yeah, I am kind of in love with the mountains. I belong there after all..
So, we decided to leave on Friday, drive for 8 hours and come back by Sunday night. Hey wait!! There was some persuasion and convincing in between but lets just skip it for now.

To my luck I woke up to thundershowers at 5 in the morning on Friday. It was our first hint. No, I didn't take any hints. I was determined in my head and I discouraged everyone from thinking along those lines. It poured like crazy that morning.  After a quick stopover at Murthal for legendary Parathas it was time to hit the road the again. Oh Boy, it rained, it rained and it rained like crazy.
160kms from Delhi it stopped raining and for the first time and I felt relieved. Again, blaming my luck, the car's defogger wasn't working so there was a lot of manual work -  Cleaning the windshield. This was our second hint. The rains were followed by chills. The spare jackets which were lying around in the 4th seat (There were 3 of us in the car) were soon utilized. The next halt was at the same place - Half an hour before Kasauli for our lunch. There was no electricity so half of the things on the menu were not available.
Oh, did I mention the CD which had 108 best songs ever...? Well it had all the songs from all the genres and decades.Right from "The Doors" to my current favorite - Adele..
I kept humming, singing and cheering with the music. Right from Love me two times to We could have had it all.. I sang them all!

After driving for almost 8 hours we reached Chail. The evening plans were in the air. The bottle of Old Monk was waiting for the celebratory toast. The clinking of glasses, salted peanuts, calorie loaded junk snack packets were waiting to be ripped apart. Just when I was happily imagining my evening plans I saw outside and everything was white.. What?
Yes, it was foggy, it was misty, there was snow everywhere and wait I am not finished yet..
There was a heavy snowfall. I think I should use the word blizzard here.!! Do you remember the Defogger in the car wasn't working..?
So Hello Muscles, Bye Bye lah-di-dah!!!!
To top it all the routes were blocked because of the heavy snowfall. The place where we had booked our accommodation was a good distance away!!!
The route was packed and closed because of heavy snowfall.. There was no other way than turning our car back.. We did manage to have our little jig in between all the chaos.
Yeah, It was one hell of an experience. Luckily we knew a nice family settled in Himachal and they were kind enough to accommodate us for a night.
There was a complete black out. No electricity to speak of. The phones were drained out.
We were lucky and managed to fill our car's tank on time.

I have written this blog post over a period of five days. My arm still hurts and I got back with fever and cold. I think I am done with the winters for now.
I didn't get to click too many photos but still managed to click a few from our moving car.

Also, after this trip I can safely conclude that there are no shitty trips. Even in the most pathetic circumstances the jokes that we shared still make me smile..
It was a fun trip this time the nature was just not with us. Too bad.!

Ah, that's life as we know it..
Will be back later with more chatter.

P.S: 1. Those of you who checked it last night must have figured that I was really sleepy while writing the post. Today morning when I checked the post I was horrified to see so many mistakes. I have edited it and corrected most of them. Feel free to let me know if you come across any.

2. The frequency of my posts is a bit lower these days. I have a lot of backlog with no time and more excuses.. I will be on a posting spree soon. I hope I get out of my skiving soon.
